Family meme
Stolen from a few of my f-listers!!
1. Did you grow up with your parents together as a unit?
Partly. First separation was when I was in 6th grade, back together, separated again in 9th grade, finally divorced in 12th grade. :-P Do not recommend.
2. Did you reach adulthood with four living grandparents?
No. Paternal grandfather passed away when I was around 6 (when we were visiting, no less.) Paternal grandmother when I was in my 20's. Maternal grandmother when I was in high school, and I never knew my maternal grandfather.
3. Is your extended family a close one or not?
My IMMEDIATE family is not a close one. I am long-time estranged from my siblings, but I am fairly close with my 2 stepsisters. 2 cousins on paternal side that I barely know, and I never met most of my maternal side, although it is very large.
4. Does your family have a 'black sheep'?
My maternal grandfather. He was a drunk and abusive and finally was run out of town by the sheriff after chasing my grandmother around with a knife. You can't make this shit up.
5. What is your first memory of a family member that is not your mother(s) or father(s)?
Toss-up between maternal & paternal grandmothers & my uncle on dad's side. They all lived in California and we went out to visit (from Iowa) when i was 6-ish.
